Monin Elderflower Syrup
As a young man (only 19), George Monin started selling branded wines and spirits in 1912. He chose the slogan "Passion for quality" and this is the ethos behind the company to this day. A french company, it is still family owned, and it's now the third generation leading the business.
There is an English saying that "Summer isn't here until the Elder is fully in flower, and that it ends once the berries are fully ripe".
It is the creamy-white flowers themselves from the Elder which have a fragrant aroma and tart, fruity flavour.
When combined by Monin, it creates a syrup with a strong floral aroma with hints of honey, and a tart and fruity taste.
